One of the greatest things about fireworks displays is that you are almost guaranteed that no two will ever be the same. We headed off around the globe in search of the most inspirational and exciting fireworks displays across the world.
New Year in Rio
Many countries are famous for their New Year celebrations. Whether it is London using the London Eye against the backdrop of Big Ben for an inspirational display, or the Eiffel Tower in Paris, or perhaps the Sydney Harbour Bridge, all provide great spectacles for seeing in the New Year.
There is just something about Brazil, Rio de Janiero, and the Copacabana beach that makes it stand out above everything else. The New Year fireworks display on the beach is more of an extension of the world-famous carnival that is held in the city, and is often accompanied by a free concert held by a global musical superstar.
Fourth of July
Independence Day is America’s biggest and most spectacular national celebration, and they hold inspirational fireworks displays to prove it. Although these can be seen anywhere, the best locations are generally the big cities, such as Los Angeles, Washington D.C, and the best place to be for glitz and glamour, New York City itself.
The most famous New York display takes place on the Hudson River, with the fireworks launched from boats moving slowly across the water.
Madeira Fireworks Festival
The Portuguese island of Madeira is more famous for its holidays and being the birthplace of Cristiano Ronaldo than it is for its fireworks, however if you can head there in June you will experience a mind-blowing bonanza of sights and sounds.
This festival is celebrated every Saturday in June, which is great for the discerning tourist who might look to avoid certain resorts at their busiest periods, with June being slightly outside Madeira’s high peak.
Kentucky Derby Festival
The fireworks display that accompanies the annual, world-famous Kentucky Derby racing festival is considered to be the biggest and most spectacular in the whole of North America. Even if you are here for the racing, you will not be disappointed by the breath-taking fireworks displays held at the beginning and end of the festival itself.
Japanese Fireworks Festivals
Fireworks are widely celebrated in Japan, and through the month of August street parties are commonplace on an almost daily basis. These are great not just for the wild and inspirational fireworks parties, but the whole festival feeling throughout the whole country, with singing, dancing, and street markets accompanying the fireworks themselves.
